A student goes missing at Yale University and freshman, Willa Hanson, can’t stop thinking about it. Willa, who barely knew the girl, is haunted by possible explanations of what happened to her. As days go by, the case is going cold. Willa is unable to eat, she can’t sleep, she becomes increasingly anxious. After months of insomnia, Willa seeks help. She finds Dr. Weber, a therapist close to campus who she starts meeting with regularly. They become close—unusually close—intwined in each other’s lives. Willa’s mental health improves, but she discovers that her doctor is not the person she thought she was
